I will be there for you...

We all have heard this line in "Friends" title song…. there are few moments in our life when we understand the meaning of it; and there are few moments when the friend actually needs you and it’s important to him that you are there for him! More than that it’s important to you that you were there for him and that is one of the biggest satisfaction!!

Following forward mail is one of that kind:
Horror gripped the heart of a World War-I soldier, as he saw his lifelong friend fall in battle. The soldier asked his Lieutenant if he could go out to bring his fallen comrade back. "You can go," said the Lieutenant," but don't think it will be worth it. Your friend is probably dead and you may throw your life away."The Lieutenant's words didn't matter, and the soldier went anyway. Miraculously, he managed to reach his friend, hoisted him onto his shoulder and brought him back to their company's trench. The officer checked the wounded soldier, and then looked kindly at his friend. "I told you it wouldn't be worth it," he said. "Your friend is deadand you are mortally wounded.""It was worth it, Sir," said the soldier. "What do you mean by worth it?" responded the Lieutenant. "Your friend is dead.""Yes Sir," the soldier answered, "but it was worth it because when I got to him, he was still alive and I had the satisfaction of hearing him say....
"Jim...I knew you'd come."

Nice naa.. but all these things only happen in stories… in reality when your friend actually needs you are never around, you are busy with your family, your work, your life, your this n your that….
it hurts to your friend even if he doesn't show…
but more than that it hurts you that you were not there for him...

What is Passion?

It was like one of the most frustrating Fridays… March already began in India n we were still living in the extra day of year! It was around 12 in night we were about to join rest of the world in March n discussion started about different things; we decided to shift the base. Anup, Karthik, Padmrag and I went to the Lake Washington!! Lake Washington is no doubt a beautiful place but its lot more than that as Anpya says “Ithe alo ki shant watat ekdum!” (whenever you come here you feel very relaxed)
Just to shift focus the from “Senti” discussions, Paddy started new topic: “What is passion?” and suddenly the mood changed; we started thinking philosophically (:D) trying to define passion in our own confused ways!
For someone, passion is like a never ending thing which keeps you driving all the way or to other passion is like internal drive or strong feeling to achieve something, to do something! We took many examples right from “Master Blaster” to “Paddy” (from “being to the top” to “coming first in a school exam”). At the end, we all had our own conclusions! No one was right or wrong, we just had taken admission to different schools of thoughts :)
My curiosity did not end there; after coming back I googled “What is Passion?” and to my surprise our discussion was lot less boring and still more meaningful than the links from various management/personal development Gurus!
Still it made me think … What is my Passion?
